CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW WITH CARPATHIA When your local metal scene conjures about it's own female fronted progressive metal band, Cry Of the Wolf Magazine just had to know more. Who came up with the name?       Our Bassist Andrew    describe your writing process. Is it one person with a riff or a team effort? It's 80% our guitarist or bassist coming up with a riff and 20% team effort    How has the New England scene treated the band? Wicked good kehd. Hah. Our bassist is actually from NC but he fits in quite well. The scene has been like family to us, and we hope they view us in the same way.     Female fronted metal and symphonic metal bands have exploded on the scene, especially from Europe. What do you attribute to the rising success of these bands as well as your own?   People who love heavy music however also enjoy more variety of vocal style and more of a progressive approach, can really appreciate our sty

CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH VIRTUAL SYMMETRY

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH VIRTUAL SYMMETRY Can you give us a run down of the writing process for the band Sure! The songwriting process always begins with an individual improvisation (a bass line, a vocal melody, a keyboard/guitar harmonic cycle or an epic theme), presented to the whole band, or a full-band jam. The best ideas get refined and arranged for all the instruments, including vocals, in the most natural and spontaneous way for every member. When we're satisfied by the result we get to writing the lyrics, meticulously working on any possible arrangement improvement. Only when everything suits to the goals we wanted to reach, we head to the recording studio. who came up with the name? Our name was an early idea of our guitarist and founder Valerio, it stands for that balance which stands out of the physical part of life, a more mental, emotional and if you wish spiritual balance in the life of each and everyone of you. And we aim for reaching that concept

CRY OF THE WOLF REVIEW OF MARITA "ROUGH STUFF"

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF REVIEW OF MARITA "ROUGH STUFF" This is pure rock and roll that harkens back to the glory days of the 80's. Those golden days of spandex nights and hair sprayed nights. When the innocence of our very world seemed to never end and paradise was just a flock of seagulls away. This album is full of those rocking riffs and sing able lyrics we all grew up. Those perfect albums that you could dance to and rock out to.       Marita has this charisma and charm that speak of good times, rock and roll, and rough stuff. The production is perfectly in sync with her vocal style and features some killer guitar shredding. This is get up and dance or thrash your room music. Danceable yet dangerous on so many levels.  "Bikini Cleopatra" and "Cuff Me" are two stand out tracks.       Just great rock and roll. But just when you think your sinking in to a predictable pattern, along comes a song like "Let Me Go" which feature

CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH MIDNIGHT PROPHECY

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF INTERVIEW WITH MIDNIGHT PROPHECY         Who came up with the name? That would be Pete. After a long time struggling with names we started thinking about themes, darkness is a general theme in metal and prophecies or tales of occultism and foresight often make for the best stories, so that's where it comes from. One day Pete came out with it and we were all "Yes!" In agreement. D escribe your writing process. Does everyone contribute? Our process for writing varies most of the time, a good 90% of our songs are musically cowritten between members but more recently there's been more ideas coming out of Chris with the odd bit here and there from someone else. It mostly depends on who has the time to put their ideas to paper music wise. Lyrically everything is written by Craig, with perhaps a line here and there from someone else if Craig likes it.  A re there any subjects you won’t write about? We'd like

CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW with CRAIG WELLS AND JAMES THORLEY OF ATLAS

Image
CRY OF THE WOLF MAGAZINE INTERVIEW with CRAIG WELLS AND JAMES THORLEY OF ATLAS 1. How did the band start? James: The band came together during the late summer of 2016. I had put together about 5 keyboard demos that would form the basis of the EP that we are currently recording now. My initial idea was to write a handful of melodic rock songs that took influence from some of my favourite bands from the 80s/90s, such as Toto, Journey, Mr Big and even some progressive acts like Genesis. I later brought on Howie Little (guitars) and Christian Redfearn (bass) to help refine my demos into a fully fleshed out band project, which then resulted in the recruitment of Craig Wells on vocals. 2. Who came up with the name? James: I had come up with name near the start of the demoing process. I was writing the music under the working title of 'Atlas project' and the name 'Atlas' kind of stuck from that. I prefer shorter syllable names that are easy t
